In a nutshell, what is Feng Shui?
-
In a nutshell? That’s
4,000 years of history you’re talking about!
OK. If you haven’t
heard by now, Feng Shui is to live in harmony with your environment so that
the energy surrounding you works for you, and not against you.
It’s not a religion and it’s not magic.
It’s not interior design. Some
may say it’s a philosophy, but others will insist it’s a science that is
calculated by mathematics and specific methodology.
-
The
original name for Feng Shui is Kan Yu, which means, “Raise your head and
observe the sky above. Lower
your head and observe the earth around us.”
This tells us to pause and study the natural and man-built
environment. It is also a
reminder that man is part of the Three Harmonies: Heaven, Man and Earth (Man
is in the center as the connection between Heaven and Earth).
-
Feng
shui is not exclusive to China. You
will find similar geomancy sciences in India (Vastu Shastra), Vietnam (phong
thuy), Japan, Hawaii, Indonesia, and Thailand (hong sui ).

Anthea has studied Shamanic traditions all her life, whether it be the
wisdom of the Goddess, Tibetan mysticism or the ancient cultures of the
East. The appeal to be a feng shui advisor is a continuation of a
spiritual practice to bring to fruition a wish for positive changes
in
our environment and ourselves in accord with the Universal Laws. A
feng shui advisor plays the role of an interior designer, healer,
priestess,
therapist, financial advisor, business consultant & matchmaker.
Where did you learn Feng Shui?
-
I studied feng shui at the BTB/GEO’s (Geomancy Education
Organization) three years professional course under the teachings of three
distinguished feng shui experts: Barry Gordan, Steven Post (author of The
Modern Book of Feng Shui), and Edgar Sung (author of several Chinese
astrology books).
-
I have also studied the
Xuan Kong method of feng shui with the American Feng Shui Institute, founded
by Master Larry Sang. Xuan Kong
is better known as the “Nine Palace Floating Stars”.
It is a nine number system that derives its mathematics from the I-Ching.
-
I
believe in picking as many brains as possible to study this fascinating
topic. To quote Lillian Too:
“It would be unwise to disregard any school of Feng Shui.
A true Master can blend the strengths of all the schools”.

What
Does A Consultation Consist Of?
-
A feng shui consultation is an individual study, which is
customized to the client’s needs.
I will analyze the exterior, interior, directions, colors, forms, the
Five Elements and architectural characteristics of the site.
-
For the individual, a
life reading is done using physiognomy, palmistry and Chinese astrology.
This enables me to analyze and adjust the Five Elements that make-up
your destiny and how they influence your personality, your health, and the
“path” on your journey through life.

How
can something like feng shui improve your luck, fix
your marriage,
make you rich? Isn’t it just
superstition?
-
In the past few years, feng shui has become popular in the West.
Bookstores carry more and more titles on the subject.
On TV, I’ve seen life insurance commercials alluding to feng shui.
Even Cosmopolitian magazine had an article on it.
And, when you read: “Place
a pair of Mandarin ducks in your love area, or, put 9 gold fish in your
wealth area”, I can see how it can sound like superstition and folklore.
Whoever tells you that’s all there is
to feng shui, doesn’t understand the history or the concept of this
ancient art.
-
The
ancient Chinese believe in 3 forms of luck, called: Tien Ti Ren, or, Heaven
Luck, Man Luck and Earth Luck. Heaven
Luck is beyond our control. You
could say it's what the stars have in store for us.
Man Luck is whether we learn our lessons in life, or just continue to
repeat the same mistakes over and over again.
Whether you call this karma or not, you do
have control over it. Earth
Luck is feng shui, and that is also in our control!
For example: Let’s say you want to be a multi-millionaire, but your
astrological chart says this is not your fate. By changing your Man Luck
(karma) through education, good deeds and charity and then your Earth Luck,
through feng shui adjustments, instead of becoming a multi-millionaire, you’ll
just have to settle for being very wealthy.

I
have studied Black Sect feng shui , which uses metaphysical, as well as,
practical methods to adjust chi in our environment.
They teach that feng shui works on two levels: sying
and yi. Sying involves the
tangible and external element, which are the things that you can see and
feel, such as, landforms and building shapes.
And, that yi, when translated means, “wish” or “will”,
involves the intangible or intuitive aspects of feng shui.
This would entail meditation, visualization, mudras, sutras and
rituals.
-
At
the other end of the spectrum, I
have studied with feng shui Masters that are adamant against using
superstition, religion or mysticism in their practice.
They teach that feng shui is a science and an art which uses
calculations and methodology to analyze a site.
They look at how chi is influenced by time and space.
